Amberly Lago shares her experience with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and her method, PACER, to strengthen resilience through personal challenges.
Amberly Lago was a former athlete and professional dancer turned fitness trainer when her life was forever altered by a devastating motorcycle accident, and the victory she discovered through her recovery. Even after 34 surgeries and being diagnosed with CRPS giving up was never in this Texas girl’s wheel house. She encourages others to find resilience in their own difficulties and thrive, and has developed healthy tools for dealing with any kind of physical or emotional pain.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

Amber Lago—what a wonderful woman & inspiration you are. Thank you for giving us hope. Almost Two years ago in August, our son, Justin, suffered an injury to his neck, shoulder & right arm while on duty as a California Highway Patrolman. After several months of agonizing pain and doctors not believing what he was telling them, he was diagnosed with CRPS. He is also married with three amazing children so it has been hard for the whole family to know it is an incurable pain. We have all researched lots of information; however, you were the first person that has CRPS to inspire us. Please continue your inspirational talks and let us know about any upcoming motivational meetings you may have scheduled. Our son needs someone like you to inspire him as much of his life has been devastated. He is also an athlete and a trainer and was involved with many of the CHP challenges (Baker to Vegas Runs, Softball tournaments, & training his three very athletic children). Please send any help & information that would motivate him to stretch forward. May God bless you & your family forever. Thank you—Justin’s mother and dad—Mark & Brenda Walker.
