Season 6, Episode 305
Leadership: Confidence That Creates Impact with Linda Fisk
A conversation with Linda Fisk
About This Episode
Welcome back to another episode of The Amberly Lago Show! In this episode, I sit down with the incredible Linda Fisk, multi-award-winning CEO, two-time International Stevie Business Award winner, TEDx speaker, six-time international best-selling author, TV and podcast host, board advisor, and CEO of LeadHERship Global.
Linda has dedicated her career to helping ambitious women show up, speak up, step into their influence, and become the leaders they were created to be. In this powerful conversation, we talk about leadership, confidence, collaboration, faith, imposter syndrome, and what becomes possible when women stop seeing one another as competition and start creating opportunities for each other.
Linda shares how her experience working in global leadership organizations showed her the incredible power of bringing people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives together around a shared purpose. She saw firsthand that when the right people come together around a common goal, the impact can be transformational.
That experience eventually inspired her to create LeadHERship Global, a community built to transform women leaders from the inside out. Linda explains why the world doesn't need more busy women trying to hustle their way to success. It needs values-driven leaders who lead with intention, alignment, confidence, and a desire to leave a meaningful legacy.
One of the biggest themes throughout this conversation is the shift from scarcity to abundance. Linda acknowledges why competition between women can feel so real when women still receive fewer opportunities in areas like funding, board positions, media, and speaking. But instead of accepting scarcity as the answer, she believes women can create something different by opening doors, sharing opportunities, and lifting other women as they rise.
We also talk about the importance of community and why none of us are meant to navigate growth alone. Whether it's a coach, mentor, therapist, mastermind, or trusted circle, having people around you who can offer wisdom, remind you who you are, and believe in you when you're struggling to believe in yourself can completely change your trajectory.
Linda shares one of my favorite perspectives on failure: failure is simply your first attempt in learning. Instead of allowing setbacks to become proof that we're incapable, we can use them as building blocks for greater confidence, resilience, experience, and growth.
We dive deeply into confidence and why it isn't something we have to wait around to feel. Confidence is something we can build by taking action, trying things that scare us, learning from what doesn't work, and proving to ourselves that we're capable of more than we thought.
Linda also shares why women can sometimes underestimate their abilities and how we can begin calling on the confidence we already have in one area of our lives and bring that same strength into the places where we feel uncertain.
We talk openly about imposter syndrome, including those moments when you walk into a room and wonder whether you really belong there. Linda shares a powerful faith-based perspective: remember who you are and whose you are. For her, stepping into purpose isn't about being perfect or proving herself. It's about being obedient to the mission God has placed on her life.
That leads us into an important conversation about getting our ego out of the way and remembering that our work isn't always about us. When we shift our focus away from how we look, whether we're good enough, or what other people might think and instead focus on the people we're called to serve, so much of the pressure begins to fall away.
If you've ever struggled with comparison, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, fear of failure, or questioning whether you're ready for your next level, this episode is a powerful reminder that you don't need to be perfect to step forward. Build your confidence, surround yourself with people who believe in your potential, remember your purpose, and keep taking the next brave step.

How do you get someone that's in your community to get the mindset of abundance of collaboration and connection versus comparing?
It's about adopting a abundance mindset, not a scarcity mindset. And let me just say I understand why women feel the need to compete. Because we receive only 2% of all venture capital funding we receive, less than 10% of of every corporate board seat are given to women. In fact, around the world, women make up less than 10% of every single speaking opportunity. So I understand this idea of scarcity. You have to hustle harder, you have to be better, you have to stand out, you have to be differentiated. Otherwise you're going to get passed by. In leadership Global, we just don't promise access to those things, which we do. But we promise transformation. We promise a mindset shift to accelerate their business success and ensure that they never lead alone.
Hey there. Thank you so much for tuning in to the show. I'm happy to have you here because I have a real treat for y'. All. I mean, many incredibly talented leaders, people never reach their full potential and, and it's not because they lack ability, but because they struggle to show up, speak up and step up in the moments that matter most. Today's guest has dedicated her career to changing that. Linda Fisk is here. A multi Award winning CEO, two time international Stevie Business Award winner, TEDx Speaker, y'. All. She's six times international best selling author, TV host, podcast host, board board advisor, and she is the CEO of lead Hership Global. A powerful community designed and help ambitious women expand their leadership blueprint, embrace their influence and step fully into their purpose, both in work and life. So Linda, welcome to the show. I mean, I could go on and on about all your accolades. I am blown away by your background, all that you've achieved. And so I am so honored to have you on the show today.
Oh, Amberly, it's my honor. It's my privilege. Your show is of course one of the top rated podcasts nationwide around the world. The guests that you have featured on your show are nothing less than stellar and to be among them is really quite an honor. So Amberly, thank you for giving us space face to have really impactful conversations, especially around women and women entrepreneurship. So thank you so much, Amberly.
Oh, thank you. Well, when I first moved to Dallas, your name came up nonstop. I was like, who? I mean. And we've had several people say, hey, do you know you and Amberly need to connect. And I'm like, we are destined to be friends. And then to Find out that not many people know where Heath is and that we lived so close, like a mile away from each other. So I'm so happy that you're here. And honestly, I am really just blown away by what you've created in the impact that you're making and helping so many women to shine their light and step up and use their voices. And you've had such a dynamic career in psychology, marketing, leadership and entrepreneurship.
Women.
What, I'm just curious, what originally sparked your passion for leadership and helping others, especially women, succeed?
Yeah, thank you for asking. I would say I have had the benefit and privilege of working for leadership organizations that really transformed the way that I think about leadership. It really created a deep impact on me because I saw leaders in coming together with different backgrounds, different belief systems, and in very different sectors of the world, different industrial experience, different areas of expertise, different domain experience. And yet when you bring leaders together that are focused on solving a shared objective, a shared goal or a shared problem, then I tell you, it is absolutely unstoppable. When you garner the strengths of any individual leaders in unison towards one united, shared objective, it's absolutely transformational. So what I really learned is the power of community, the power of partnership, the power of coming together to solve honestly some of the most daunting issues and problems that are facing our generation, our communities and our businesses. And through those experiences where I served as both the chief marketing officer for one global organization and I served as the chief executive officer for a secondary organization, I really realized the power of leadership, the power of partnership, the power of really aligning the right minds, the right hearts, the right spirits against an issue, a problem or an opportunity is absolutely unstoppable. And I wanted to create that same sort of momentum, that same sort of global movement specifically for women around the world. And since that time, I've had the good fortune of being able to build one of the most, I think, trusted and impactful communities of women in leadership around the world. And in leadership global, you know, we transfer women in leadership from the inside out. Not with formulas, not. Not with more hustle, but with frameworks and with alignment. Because the world doesn't need more busy women. It needs more values driven leaders that are recognized and remembered. And so we are here to help women in leadership become just that. Again, not with formulas, but with frameworks and not with hustle, but with alignment. And so we work with women to lead with intention and to truly leave a legacy.
That is amazing. Well, I love that you say from the inside out, because I really do think that it starts with self development, knowing what your goals and your values are so you can be in alignment and. But in today's culture, I see so many women that it's a competition. How do you bring women together and really like, I know the importance of, in the power of community and collaboration, but there are some women, not like you, that are out there that talk about that, but they don't often really do the things that they're talking about. As far as like collaborating and lifting other women up. How do you get someone that's in your community to get the mindset of abundance, of collaboration and connection versus comparing,
you know, that is. You just said it Amberly, so beautifully. It's about adopting a abundance mindset, not a scarcity mindset. And let me just say I understand why women feel the need to compete. Because we receive only 2% of all venture capital funding, we receive less than 10% of every corporate board seat. And in the Fortune 500, it's less than 1% of corporate board seats are given to women. Women have less access to media platforms, to speakers opportunities. In fact, around the world, women make up less than 10% of every single speaking opportunity. So I understand this idea of scarcity. I understand why women have been taught that you have to hust harder, you have to be better, you have to stand out, you have to be differentiated. Otherwise you're going to get passed by because there aren't as many opportunities for women. But in Leadership Global, we just don't promise access to those things, which we do. But we promise transformation. We promise a mindset shift and we promise equal access to women on stages, in front of microphones, TV cameras and in corporate boards, in VC funding opportunities. And in fact, at Leadership Global, every single aspect of our membership is designed to elevate the leadership of women, to elevate and expand their visibility, to accelerate their business success and ensure that they never lead alone. And I think once women feel as though there is enough to share, there is more than enough abundance for me to benefit and for me to pass it along, for me to lift others up, for me to reach down and lift women up, as I still continue to climb, then I find that that really shifts in the hearts and minds of women as they're climbing the ladder, they can also pull women up with them. And that really is what is different. And so in Lead Hership Global, we promise not just access, but transformation where women have an opportunity to expand their visibility, deepen their credibility and open up new doors, doors that lead to growth that lead to scale for their businesses. And we connect them to the people, the platforms, and the playbooks that help them accelerate their leadership journey. So once they join our community, I think that they are wowed with not just access, but with other women who are deeply invested in their success and the idea that they don't have to navigate this alone. They are matched with a circle, a coach, a roadmap to support them every single step of the way. And I think when you feel that kind of abundance, it really does shift your heart, your mindset. It does shift what you think is potentially possible for you and for all women.
Yeah, I think that's great. And I'm right on the same page with you. I mean, I think it's important every step of the way. I honestly, the reason I started my mastermind is because when I was writing my first book, I was felt so alone. I just had one of my clients do her first TED talk yesterday, and it just. The support around her, the women that were rallying around her, and, you know, the. The guidance that she had every step of the way makes such a difference. And that's why I love a community. I mean, I have my own mastermind, and I'm a part of a mastermind. I'm a coach, and I have a coach. I mean, I've got a therapist, and it's scary that people would even think that I'm their therapist. They need to go talk to you. But then also, I'm a sponsor, and I have a sponsee. I think it's important. Important no matter where you're going in life, to have and seek counsel, not opinion. Seek the wisdom from people who have gone before you. I like the idea of when you're stepping up as a woman. Sorry, that was my daughter calling me. I have it on do not disturb, but her phone call gets through. But I like the idea of when you're stepping up on the ladder and climbing up that you're pulling people along with you, because I can tell it, Linda, there are so many events that I do where I'm the only female speaker, and I'll tell my husband, oh, my gosh, look, I am the only female speaker. And he's like, oh, that's great. I'm like, no, it's not good. I was like, I love the fellas, but we need more female voices and leadership out there, so I can appreciate what you're doing so much. What is one thing, though, that you would say to a woman who's like, I don't think that's possible. Like what's one mind shift that they can do today to go from scarcity to abundance?
Yeah, the one, the one I think underlying theme in everyone who is incredibly successful by any measure, whether they have a very rich, blessed family life or they are in remarkable health or they have an abundance of opportunities, or they have a growing thriving business or maybe they've been able to create financial abundance and financial wealth. However you just define success, the one unifying theme of all of those examples is that they had the confidence to step forward, to be seen to be spotlighted. And in Leadership Global, we just don't recognize your brilliance. We help the world see it too. And sometimes the very first step is for you to recognize your purpose, your mission, your vision and your brilliance. Sometimes the very most important first step you can take is to have that level of confidence that allows you to take that first baby step. Confidence is absolutely the biggest predictor of success because confidence allows you to be resilient even in the face of failure, even in the face of a setback or a misstep. Confidence allows you to see that as a learning opportunity and then get back up and forge forward knowing I'm richer and, and I have more experience, more expertise because I failed, because I failed because I had a setback, because I had some sort of, you know, at the time, what I might define as unfortunate situation. Actually that is a building block to your success because it allows you to learn. Failure is literally only your first attempt in learning. And so if you are able to transform the way you think of failure, failure, and you're able to build that self confidence and build that self awareness that yes, you absolutely are capable, you're competent, the only thing stopping you is you. And if you're able to do that, then I think that really does release a lot of perhaps limiting beliefs and it does release perhaps a lot of barriers that you created for yourself. And again, in communities like Leadership Global and the great example you just gave of a client of yours has stepped on the TEDx stage is to be seen and then be spotlighted. And again, we don't just recognize your brilliance, we help the world see it too. And if you're in a season of your life or a stage of your development where you are just riddled with self doubt, with insecurity, with feeling everything other than confidence, then what I would suggest is that you connect with a coach, with a mentor, with a therapist, with a community that can remind you of who you really are and that can help you Release some of those limiting beliefs so that you can not just lead differently, you'll live differently, with a clear vision, with stronger boundaries, with deeper alignment, and with the confidence to begin playfully experimenting, just discovering what you're capable of, discovering what's possible for you. And once you begin that process of, hmm, I've never tried a TedX. I wonder if I could do it. I don't know if I can or not, but I'm just going to give it a shot. Listen, no pain, no gain. So I'm just gonna try. I'm just gonna experiment. I'm just gonna see if it's even possible. Once you start challenging yourself to take on those kinds of opportunities and you find that you're much more capable than you might have initially believed, you're gonna walk away with more confidence, more clarity, and with, honestly, people cheering you along the way, people that are deeply invested in seeing you succeed. And having that cheerleader next to you, that cheering squad next to you, then amplifies your ability to take on the next challenge and the next challenge and the next challenge.
Oh, that's so good. I love this idea of failure or failing is first attempt in learning. That's amazing. It's all how you look at it, right? I have learned my biggest lessons from my biggest mistakes. And, you know, I think confidence really isn't a feeling. It's something that we can actually build. It's something that we do. And I didn't. I wasn't confident. And then I did something. I was scared to death and I did it anyway. And then it built my confidence. And even when I was doing my first TED Talk, I was scared to death. And I love that you say someone cheering you on. I had a client of mine that said, amberly, you got through 34 surgeries. I think you can go stand on a stage and talk. And I was like, oh, like just shifting your perspective, just having someone that believes in you. And so I will never forget that. So now every time I'm scared, well, first of all, I do push ups and prayer before I go on stage. But then I remember that what is the scariest thing that you've ever, ever made it through? And you did that so you can go do the next thing. And every time you do it, it's not as scary. And you build more confidence each time that even go, that's for everything I've done, even from podcasting to doing my first post. I mean, Linda, you are like such an expert in marketing and you've had such experience in that for so long. I remember when I wrote my first book, I had no idea what I was doing and I was scared just to do my first post. And like you said, failing first attempt in learning, that's how I learned and I continue to do it. So I love that.
And if I could just say that. Listen, we women have a particular difficulty developing self confidence. In fact, compared with men, women don't consider themselves ready for promotions. They predict they'll do much worse on tests. They generally underestimate their considerable abilities. And yet self confidence is linked to almost every single element involved in a happy and fulfilling life. Confidence gives you the skills and the coping methods to handle setbacks and failures. And listen, self confidence doesn't mean you won't sometimes fail. For sure it will. But you'll know how to handle the challenges and not be crippled by them. Even with things don't turn out anywhere close to what you planned, you'll be able to avoid beating yourself up. So I would just challenge anyone listening to reflect on a moment on how self confident you think you are. Do you feel confident in work situations? What about confidence when you're with your friends and family? How confident do you feel about making a presentation at work or talking to a stranger? I got to tell you, there are different aspects of your life where you may say, oh, I'm very confident in that particular aspect of my life. Well, then that is what you call upon that strength, that resilience, that sense of who you are at a deeper level. You call that into all the different aspects of your life because you and only you can make new things happen in your life. And if you wait for serendipity to provide you with good fortune or increase confidence, I gotta say, you're gonna be waiting a long time. You have to realize that the path towards self confidence is one that you are gonna have to travel. No one else can do it for you.
Yeah, I love that you brought up about the, like the difference between men and women. And, and just yesterday for an example, I was at the gym doing the seated row and I look right in front of me, there's a mirror and there's a man and he's probably 100 pounds, maybe overweight. Look, if he's happy, he's obviously happy that he is. I just worry about health reasons in his heart, but he was looking in the mirror like he was like on top of the world. He was the sexiest man alive. And I was like, I was really like, wow, give me some of that because I certainly don't look in the mirror and do what he's doing. And I'm not talking. It was just a little bit. He was actually like, really? He, it was like he could not get enough of how amazing he looked in the mirror. And then I think about my husband who I love. He is a good looking man and he looks in the mirror, he'll take his shirt off and be like, I don't know if you're listening to this, Johnny, but he'll take a shirt off and be like, yeah, look at this, check this out. And I'm like, maybe I need to start doing that even if I don't believe it at first, but just start doing that to build some confidence. But it's true. And I think, I love that you say, what are you confident out? Like, bring that to every aspect. Maybe that's why I do push ups and prayer, because I don't always, often I don't feel confident before I'm going to walk on stage. That imposter syndrome will sometimes kick in. What do you say to somebody who's like, has imposter syndrome. And they're maybe like, oh, like I've been in a situation where I was like, oh my gosh, I am the only one that's not a doctor speaking at this event. I don't even have a college education. The imposter syndrome is real. What do you say to somebody who can kick imposter syndrome to the curb?
Yeah, I'm gonna, I'm actually going to play on something you said and realize that not everyone may have this particular belief system. But you said you begin with push ups and prayer. In my faith and in my belief system, I was put on this planet for a purpose. I was given a mission and a vision. And based on that, it is my duty, it is my responsibility to show up, stand up and deliver on that purpose, that mission and vision. No matter how scared I am, no matter how overwhelmed I am, no matter how inadequate I feel, I have to remember that my identity is I am the daughter of the most High Jesus Christ, king of my life. And he has given me a mission. And. And who am I to say no? I can't say no to that. I am the daughter of the most high king. And based on that, he has given me a path to walk. And my response is yes. My response is obedience. And no matter how daunting it is, no matter how overwhelming it is, no matter how insecure I feel and how inadequate I feel, if he believes in me, then I believe in me. And I am given the opportunity to at least try and listen. That does not suggest that I'm successful every time, not a bit. It does suggest that I say yes. And I am obedient to what I've been given to do. And I do my very best to take a step every single day towards that. My responsibility in this life is to lift women up, to open up doors for them, to help them accelerate their success, to help them achieve a level of greatness that they may not even believe is possible. But these are also the daughters of God who absolutely are. I mean, he's cheering them on. He wants every single one of his daughters to succeed. And it is my role and my responsibility to do what I can to ensure that. So if you lack confidence and you want to build your confidence, remember who you are. Remember whose you are. And that releases your responsibility in terms of your own performance. This is not based on your performance. This is based on who you are and whose you are and what your unique vision and mission is, your purpose on earth. So listen, before we got on air, I told Amberly, my lighting's not great. I'm kind of feeling my age right now. I look a little shiny, river that. It doesn't even matter because I'm here to do a job and what I look like, even though it's not what I would prefer, it doesn't matter because ultimately, this is not about me. This is not about me. And the more that you're able to release that ego and sort of say, this is not about me. This is about my personal purpose. This is about my mission, this is about my vision, then you are able to relinquish this idea that you have to be perfect, that you have to be absolutely better than everyone else. You have to be perfect in everything you do. No, you have to just simply step into your purpose. That's all you have to do.
If I had a mic, I would just do like a. A mic drop right now. That was powerful. Yes, I love that. Who and whose you are. And it's not about. Really about the people you serve. When I start getting in my head, I will actually say, out of my head, into my heart. God, speak through me. This is not about me. This is about the people I serve. And that gets my ego out of the way, edging God out, right? And I mean, every morning, Linda, I wake up and I. I pray and I say, God, speak through me today. Help me just to be the best version of me I can be, to lead others to you. And I recently had somebody that, I guess follows me on social media. She's a neighbor. And my husband had gone over. Our dogs play together. And she. He said, you know, you should really go to my wife's event. It's a lot of female entrepreneurs and you love it. It's great. I mean, my husband's such a great cheerleader. And she goes, no offense, Johnny, but I don't believe in God. And I was like, oh, wow. And I had a twinge of, do I talk about God too much? And I'm like, I'm not. I can't help myself. That's why I do what I do. Like you just said, it's like, this is your purpose. You are a child of God. And so thank you for saying I needed to hear that, because I just got heard that last night. And I'm like, no, I'm going to shout it off the rooftops.
Because no matter what your faith is and no matter where you are in your spiritual journey, if you are not of faith, but you know you have a mission and vision on Earth, focus on the people you serve. As you said, Amberly, focus on the mission and vision that you were put on Earth to do. Serving the people in your life, serving them with the very best intention, the best spirit, the best heart, the best capabilities that you have in that moment. In that moment, for me, I guarantee I would not have the level of success that I currently do if I didn't give it all to God. I mean, I can do more with God and my very finite ability than I ever could without God and all the wealth and power and intelligence in the world. So in my mind, I can do more with him than I ever could without him. And I know he is the fuel underneath everything that we do in Leadership Global. But if that is not your belief system and you're not a faith or you're not sure what you believe, then focus on the people you serve. Focus on doing as much as you possibly can to allow them to shine, to alleviate their issues and problems, to be able to take that next step in a better direction. Whatever it is that you do for people, keep that in the forefront of your mind, and that will alleviate again those insecurities, that imposter syndrome, that sense of having to be perfect at everything you do. Because that's no one's expectation.
Yeah.
No one expects you to be perfect.
Yeah. And perfect is boring anyway. And, you know, and now even when I see social media posts that every post they do, you can tell it's filtered or it's AI. It's like, I want to see real. I want to see authentic. I want to see the real deal. And if you make mistakes, I'm like, oh, you're human, you know, but, yeah, and. And I think that, you know, when I. I got sober in 2016, I started drinking after my motorcycle accident and 34 surgeries and led me down a road that I'm not proud of, but I'm thankful for because it's given me the life now that I have. But I love the program I'm in, because when you come in, it says you can have a God of your own understanding, meaning, doesn't have to be like me, doesn't have to be like you. It can be any. Just a higher power. So I've always. I've always liked that because we have all different denominations, all different kinds of faith people, that they actually, their higher power is the group of the sober sisters that are right when they start. So I love that you said focus on the people that you serve. And I really think that just by focusing more on the people that you serve and doing more good and adding value and being grateful, that is what is going to get you ahead. And so. Oh, Linda, I just love all that you're sharing. I just was curious, what. What's one lesson you wish you would have learned earlier in your career?
How powerful gratitude is? I think I've always been a pretty optimistic, positive person, but I would say in the last 10 years, the biggest shift in my life is to really focus every single day on those things that I can count that I'm grateful for. And let me just say, there have been hard days. There have been a lot of trials and challenges. There have been a lot of losses. And sometimes on those days, the only thing I can get I can be grateful for is my relationship with my higher power, the fact I'm still breathing and the fact I've been given another chance to do good. Sometimes that's it. It's just, thank you that I'm able to even have a conversation in prayer. Thank you so much that I'm still given the chance to create impact. And thank you so much that you haven't given up on me yet. I mean, sometimes that's it. But the practice of being able to look at your life every single day and come up with a list of things that you're grateful for, I gotta tell you, what shifts, what shifts is what you pay attention to, because you no longer pay attention to all of the anxieties, all of the worries, all of the what ifs, all of the potential disasters. You start not troubleshooting and forecasting and living for what might happen and what the downside is and what, you know, what somebody might be thinking or saying. You start focusing on, wow, I've got such an abundant life. Look, I got a paycheck. I was able to make my mortgage. I was able to buy a new car. I met a new friend. I was able to celebrate my child's report card. I am so grateful that, you know, I've got a loving relationship with my husband or whatever your areas of gratitude are. Right? As soon as you start naming those things, as soon as you start literally writing those things down and identifying those things. And guess what? Every single day, that's what you're looking for. What am I going to add to my gratitude journal tonight? What am I going to be grateful for at the end of my day today? Oh, gosh. I have this amazing podcast experience with Amberly Lego. I'm going to give thanks for that. Amberly is an amazing podcast host and she invited me on her program. Wow. I'm feeling honored. I'm going to be grateful for that. But what happens is you start paying attention to those things in your life that are good things that you should be grateful for. And then all of a sudden, that begins to change what you pay attention to and also what you expect in your life. You no longer expect the doom and gloom. You no longer expect the second shoe to drop. You don't expect storm clouds to rise in the sky. What you expect is blessing, abundance, opportunity, success. And by the way, that's what happened.
Yes, I love that. And I start my mornings with gratitude. And I mean, and there are mornings I don't feel like it. Yesterday, I don't know why, but I woke up so cranky, and I was like, well, I better do my gratitude list and see if this will shift my mood, because I am just feeling really what is going on here. And it did. And I have a gratitude practice with a group of ladies, so we share our gratitude. And I always say I get to. And this morning you were on my gratitude list, and I said, I get to interview the Linda Fisk. I mean, I was really so excited about that. And I think that also when you look and if you've got a busy day and you're like, oh, my gosh, I have so much to do, I always think I get to do all the things that all these things. And so I love that. I practice it, too, and it really helps with my mind shift for sure. One of the things I am just so amazed at what you do is you have. Is it thousands of women? Thousands? I was like, I'm not even going to say hundreds. It used to be hundreds, I think even when I first met you. Now it's thousands. And lead hership global. It's global. How long has it been global? And what was the first step? What does the first thing. If somebody has a community and they're like, well, I want my community to be global, what's the one thing that they can do?
Yeah, you know, I think first it's all about intention. And for us, we absolutely wanted to be inclusive. We wanted to welcome women with different mindsets, experiences, expertise. We wanted to invite women from different parts of the world and perhaps different locations in the world because we believe that relationships are a powerful part of who we are. They can help us feel like we belong, like we have something to contribute to the world. They can strengthen us, they give us reason to affect change, but more importantly to be changed. But I know that it's often difficult to connect with people when we don't necessarily understand their background. And so we wanted to embark on a journey where all women were welcome. That race and creed and ethnicity and belief systems were not, would not exclude you from being a part of this community. In fact, we wanted to be fully inclusive and we wanted to use this as a way to help women learn how to interact respectfully and knowledgeably with all the people in their lives who exist perhaps outside their inner circle. People whose culture or worldview may be really far removed from their own. So we wanted to use this as a way to celebrate our differences and strengthen our bonds as humans. And so Leadership Global has interestingly become sort of a, an, a beautiful ecosystem of women that represent every single expertise domain, every single industry, every single size of business, every single English speaking country in the world, every faith, every economic system. And what has resulted is this idea that everyone in Leadership Global has an opportunity to really explore this idea of cultural competence. The ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures. And I think of cultural competence as being aware of your own worldview, developing really positive attitudes towards cultural differences, gaining knowledge around different cultural practices, different cultural worldviews, and then developing skills for communication and interaction across cultures. And you know, that has been absolutely beautiful. It requires more than just becoming culturally aware or practicing tolerance. It's really the ability to identify and challenge your own cultural assumptions, values and beliefs and to make a commitment to communicate kind of at that cultural intersection. So we have had incredible conversations around, I don't know, everything from style to behavioral patterns to daily habits to belief systems, to really. Even the way that industry is organized in different areas of the world. It's very different. And research has proven over and over and over again that executives at organizations with really advanced. I know that in the United States, this is, you know, people have distanced themselves from diversity, inclusion, naming something DNI or dm me something. Diversity, equity, inclusion. There's been a lot, lot of pushback around that, a lot of sensitivity around that.
Has there really?
Oh, my gosh, yes. And a lot of the D, E and I programs have been abolished. A lot of the DNI funding has been abolished. But still. Yet those organizations that do practice cultural competency, and they do still offer diversity and inclusion strategies, they're about 30% more likely than others to have their employees feel highly loyal, innovative, and set up for top performance. So we know that celebrating differences matters, no matter if you label it diversity, equity, inclusion, or not. If you call it D, E and I, or you call it cultural competency, we know that bringing people from different worldviews, different perspectives, different experiences together to solve problems deepens and enriches the final solution.
Oh, my goodness. I could listen to you all day. I'm like a sponge over here, just absorbing everything that you're saying. And you are just so wise with everything you've done. If you could give one piece of advice to a generation, a new generation of leaders or the next generation, especially women stepping into their power, what would it be?
You know, I think it all comes back to the beginning of our conversation, really, which is confidence. I would really implore every single woman that's listening to this to really become aware of your level of confidence in all the different aspects of your life. And in those places where fear is stopping you, limiting beliefs is holding or holding you back, or insecurities or a sense of incompetence is eroding your confidence. I would say absolutely focus on building that sense of confidence in your life in a 360 view. For some people, that may require therapy. For others, it may be a coaching relationship. For others, it may be small experiments that you're willing to take to prove to yourself you are capable, you are competent, you are chosen, and you were put on this planet for a reason. And that reason is not necessarily to fail, but to learn and to grow and to become a bright light in a world that needs you.
Oh, my gosh. Another mic drop moment. I. I'm curious. You do so much and you have, I mean, so much going on, so many events that you do, so many globally. What are some of the things that you do that keep you grounded and healthy? As for you being such a successful leader that you are, what are, is there a morning ritual or anything that are your non negotiables that you do that help you stay healthy and sane and ground?
Yeah. Very similar to yours, it sounds like. And I will say, just to build on that point, March is always an extraordinarily busy time for us because it's International Women's day on the 8th, it's women's history month and we celebrate women the entire month. So far we have had a, in the month of March, a five day retreat in Roatan. We had a huge event here in Dallas, Texas called the Women's wealth symposium with 250 women in the room for an all day event on International Women's Day.
I know I was so bummed that I couldn't make that I was out
of town, the possibility of having you there. But I know your, I know your schedule, your speaking schedule specifically. But we also launched a book in March for 30 of our members and we had a speaker summit in March. So far with a dozen women on the docket, on the speaker summit talking about their experiences, we are getting ready to go on a cruise, the San Juan Social cruise at the end of the month. And we are making some really important announcements about new partnerships this month as well. So this has been extraordinary month between a retreat, a cruise, a huge live event, a book launch, a summit. There's been a lot going on.
Wow.
But you know, part of this is for sure planning, right? So advanced planning. And much of this for me is prayer. If I turn this over to God, I know he is going to, you know, honestly just stir the pot, make things happen and I can release it to him and I know for sure it will turn out well. And honestly, I feel a little bit like King Midas. There's nothing we touch that doesn't go well. And it's not me. I know it's divine. It's the Divine Spirit being with us in the room, on the retreat, in the summit with the book launch. It is the Divine Spirit whispering through all of that and ensuring that it is successful because it's honoring his daughters, it's honoring the women that are creating impact in the world. And I just think that, you know, I'm kind of foolproof in that way. I do feel as though anything that we collaborate on together, that we co create together as a community. Anything that allows me to tap into the wisdom and the expertise and experience of all the women in Leadership Global. I bring all of that talent, all of that giftedness together. I allow the divine to continue to inspire and motivate and draw people to us. And we plan meticulously well in advance of the event. I mean it's bound to succeed. And that's what we find. I mean we had a phenomenal retreat with 25 women. We had a phenomenal Women's wealth symposium on International Women's Day with 250 people in the room and another 500 on live stream. We had a phenomenal book launch. We had an incredible speaker summit. And it's because it wasn't about me. It's about the women that are a part of this community co creating this experience together.
That's amazing. That is so amazing. And let me tell you, last year I did my annual event and book launch.
Amazing.
It's at the same time it was a lot. So my hats off to you. I mean that is amazing with all the things that you're doing. And I really hope to be at one of your future event. I will be. I will be there at one.
And I know you've got a big event coming up this April, Amberly, so I'm excited to be able to join you in April at your event.
Well, thank you. And you know, it feels different this year because the proceeds go to Call to Freedom, which helps women who have, who are survivors of human trafficking. And there's a lot more trust, a lot more surrender. And it just, the pressure's off a little bit because doing a big event is no joke. It's like no joke. It, it's like because then I want it to go well and there's so many moving parts. So I have so much respect and admiration for what you do and how you do it so well. And I can't wait to be in the room and I can't wait to, to see you soon. And then just a couple more quick questions. What is beside, what's the name of the book that just released? The collaboration book that you just did?
Yeah, it's Leadership Inspiring Women leading with purpose.
Oh, so good. And can people just find that on Amazon? Is that the easiest way?
Well, the speaker summit was teasing the book. The book will actually launch the first week of April. But the summit was the beginning of the tease of the pre promotion of the book that will be launched in April.
Oh, awesome. Okay. And then do you have a book that you have read? I know you've written several best selling books. Do you have a book that you've read that you tend to go to or that has really changed the way you see things, especially in leadership?
Yeah, again, it goes back to my faith. Not that again. I want this necessarily be a faith session or a faith episode. But Jesus is My CEO was absolutely transformational for me. And interestingly, it was given to me by one of my very best friends who's Jewish. She doesn't even believe in Jesus Christ and yet she understood that this was my North Star. This is where I gain wisdom, direction, guidance, inspiration, motivation. And she bought the book for me, not even sharing my faith. She gave it to me on Easter as a present. And it's called Jesus is My CEO. And it's really about putting God in that seat in your life where you are taking your direction from him rather than someone that maybe you report to in a organizational structure. And it was transformational for me.
Oh, I am gonna. I don't have that book, so thank you.
It's amazing.
Yes, thank you for that. And now I want people to be able to find more about how they can join leadership, how they can get to one of your events, all the good stuff. Grab the book. What's the best place? Where should they go?
So if you go to our website, Lead Her Ship Global. It's leadership with an H. Lead hershipglobal.com you can absolutely see all of our upcoming events. You can learn about the organization. You can certainly join if you'd like to. There's a little button called join us. You're welcome to join us. If you want to discuss anything that we talked about today. You want to just have a deeper conversation, you're welcome to DM me on LinkedIn. I'm active on LinkedIn, Facebook, I mean all of the major social media channels. But I would say LinkedIn is my go to or our website. So that's what I would recommend is leadhershipglobal.com or lead Hership Global on LinkedIn and simply DM me.

Thank you for the work that you do in helping so many women globally and taking the time out of your, like, packed schedule to be on the show. I really appreciate you.
Amberly, it is my privilege. It's my honor. And honestly, the work you do, girl, you talk about shining a light. Your story of transformation, your story of transition from moving from a very dark place to a place of inspiration and motivation for literally millions of people. Amberly, you are a miracle. And you are so powerful, I don't even think you understand how powerful you are. So it is my pleasure, my honor, to even share space with you. So thank you. Thank you so much.
Thank you. You got me all teary eyed.
True.
Thank you so much. Linda, you're just. You're amazing. Thanks for being here. And you know what, y'? All, thank you for tuning into the show. I appreciate you being here when you can be anywhere. And it's because of you, you have made this a top 1% podcast. So thanks for tuning in. Share this with a woman or share it with anyone who knows a woman, because we all need to, as Linda said, as we're climbing that ladder, pull others with us. And so I will thank you for being here, and I will see you next week.
Pain to purpose to joy.
