She is the creator of these amazing products that I've been using called they're from Eat to Live. I have the deep relief ritual balm, which I've been using, I can't wait to talk about, and also this lavender dreams tallow balm. Now, I'm not. I don't ever have guests on my show just to talk about products, but her products are that amazing, and I've had a chance to use them, and they really helped me. And we'll get into how they helped me, me. But I'm just so excited that you're here. Jessica, welcome to the show.

Jessica Hoogendoorn

It is an honor to be here and just to get to see you and visit with you and your audience.

2:00
Amberly Lago

Oh, well, thank you. So I originally met you, I think, at an event.

2:06
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Right.

2:07
Amberly Lago

And got to kind of sample your products. And I talked to you briefly. I was speaking at that event, I believe that was in a line, I think, in Arizona. But then I hosted a retreat in Kauai with my friend Patrice and Brooke, and you were there. And I got to know your story more, which I was moved to tears. And so I just want a chance for my friends listening to get to know how these products came about because they really have helped me, but they have been transformative for so many people. How did you come? Like, what inspired you to start making, you know, these amazing products?

2:55
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Sure. So you know how all of our story, we, we, we look, we live, we create through the lens of Our experiences in a very big way. And some of the experiences in life have been difficult. But through it all, you know, hindsight being 20 20, you see just how if you're able to surrender to the process, how God has used or can use your place of pain to become your place of rain, where you, what you've walked through and how, what did you learn from it? And so part of my journey was our daughter was six, well actually five turned six when she was diagnosed with leukemia. And six months into her treatment, my husband and I were making maple syrup and a brick broke where the boiling SAP was. And it came over top of her and our son and it was just an absolute nightmare. She was burned from above her chest to below her knees, was airlifted. She should have been skin grafted over most of her body. My son was burned from the waist down.

3:52
Amberly Lago

And how old was your son?

3:55
Jessica Hoogendoorn

He was four.

3:56
Amberly Lago

So five and four years old?

4:00
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yes. Yes. Well, our daughter had just turned six. She was diagnosed at five and turned six. And the week before she had just gone through her harshest chemo. So her body was at a very fragile state spot. And so when that happened, when you are going through treatment, you can't, when you're burned, you can't be taking anything to treating cancer because it would keep your skin cells and your skin from healing. So she had to stop all treatment. And so it was a, it was a really touch and go. We didn't know if she'd live for a while, but one of the things was, is her pain meds wouldn't take. So all the scrubbing every 12 hours from Burns, she started losing her mind, hallucinating. And we knew that something had to change. And through a series of God events, we were able to introduce to the burn and trauma unit at the hospital. We were in a natural way to treat burns that does not include scrubbing. It was a natural salve and a whole process which was a miracle for that to happen at a university hospital.

5:01
Amberly Lago

But I have to just say, like as a mom, just seeing your child, that must have been torturous for you to see your child, both of your children in the hospital in so much pain. And you didn't have any of these products before then? It wasn't even.

5:23
Jessica Hoogendoorn

No, no. These products have just been the last year. No, you know, Emberly, there's, you can't, you can't describe what it's like to see two children burned that extensively. It's. Burns is something that there's just, there's no Words for it. She. Yeah, there's so much to that story, but it's kind of almost too traumatizing. It's. And sometimes even describe or to tell, because it's so inhumane, especially for children. Yeah, but we had a newborn baby at the time, and we were sitting in the trauma unit, and my husband. You always have to be with one child, like. And so we had two children. So we were circulating back and forth. And because of Tori's fragile state, it was constant interaction with doctors because she stopped eating. But she had to get calories in to heal, and they had to be the right. The right things because she was fighting cancer. So I wasn't going to be giving her a lot of things they recommended because of just. It wasn't food. It was. Her body needed better than that. So it was really. It was a. It was a very trying experience. And we were sitting in the trauma unit three days into the burns, and my mom would bring the baby to me. I'd feed him, but you can't have a baby in a trauma unit. So she would take him out and just bring him in for feeding. And we got a call from the company my husband was working for, and in the recession, the company went bankrupt. And so he said, I'm sorry, you no longer have a job. And so I remember just sitting there thinking, you know, it's really only up from here. What. You know, that's just. It was a. It was a really tough season of life. And we learned a lot. I learned a lot in that season. How to heal, how to heal skin, how to heal burns. Because it was fighting for our daughter's life. Traditional treatment. They wanted to skin graft her whole body. And I knew as a mom, I knew her health history inside and out. I knew that there would be no way her body could survive because she couldn't lay on the front, she was all burned, and she couldn't lay on the back. Because skin grafting, you take off the top layer where all the nerves are, and that's excruciating as well. And so we had a prayer chain going. And like I said that that treatment that she used through a natural salve that had. Was loaded with ingredients. They told us her skin wouldn't regrow without grafting in some areas because of how deep she was burned. And her skin completely grew with that treatment. And so.

7:47
Amberly Lago

And I mean, I just know, because I had skin grafts, the whole top of my right leg is all skin graft. They took the top, the. All of my skin from the top of my leg to put it on the bottom of my leg. And I was just glad that I had enough skin there for them to do that, because they were thinking of taking it off of my back. And it would have been the same. Like, I don't know what I would have done. But can we just go back for a minute? Because it wasn't that you were just navigating being a new mom to a newborn. You had two children, not just one, but two children. Your husband had lost his job. So it was in every. Like, it was hitting you at every angle. And I love that you said, it can only go up from here. That was your attitude. Like, it's. It's going to go up. Because a lot of people would have just focused on the negative, and you were so resilient. We're thinking of, well, it's only going to go up from here, and what can I do next? And so did you have any kind of support for medical bills? Did y' all have good insurance?

9:01
Jessica Hoogendoorn

That was a really. That's another. Nobody's asked me that in a long time. That was really a terrible part of it. Because our medical insurance didn't want to pay for burn garments, and you need to have compression garments for scarring. And we were having trouble with, you know, it was those social services, and of course, they have to do their part, but, you know, it depends on who you get. And then it was our medical insurance that didn't want to give us the finances for burn garments. We didn't have any money. We had nothing. We had no work. Two kids in the hospital and a newborn baby. And so it was through people reaching out to Shriners, they got us in contact with Shriners, and Shriners stepped in and were able to get compression garments for Tori. In some ways, it was too late because of the time it took for us to get into Shriners. But through the sav that she like, they made us skin graft her hand. They said, if you give us her hand, we will experience, let you show us, teach us how to do this treatment. And then we will look, we will take pictures every 12 hours, and we're going to step in at any time if this is not working. And I had nurses coming to me, and they were saying, this is the most humane treatment we've ever seen. They had literal tears in their eyes. They said, we have to hold people down as they're screaming with burns. We're the ones that are as traumatized as the people are. Sometimes there's no pain in this treatment. And so we had nurses in the hospital that had bedpans where you soak the burdock leaves because you put a salve on, you wrap them with burdock leaves. And it was so beautiful to me to see doctors acknowledging the natural treatment. And it worked so well. They actually took her case to Washington as an example of this treatment working. And so people had the option to have a natural treatment, and now it's in different hospitals. And so Tori's story with another little girl that was burned and came what has impacted and been a blessing to I don't even know how many people since to have a humane burn treatment.

11:07
Amberly Lago

Oh, that is beautiful. And what exactly can you tell us what. What is in this treatment? Like what. What is the magic that's in it? And what is tallow?

11:23
Jessica Hoogendoorn

So that was not the tallow part. Where I learned in that treatment was the power of. It's a mixture of herbs and raw honey, and it's called burn and wound. You can look that up. Or B and W is another name for the ointment. But what I learned was as part of this treatment was the power of comfrey raw honey and different herbs and regenerating skin cells. Because technically, like I said, Tori shouldn't have had different parts of her skin regrow without grafting because of how extensively it's burned. But there is different herbs, and raw honey is a huge one that helps to draw in moisture, that helps the cells to regenerate, that helps with healing. And so I took that part along with. A couple years later, my mom was diagnosed with skin cancer a couple times. And so what I used to help her battle that naturally and to help her skin to heal without scarring, I combined some of both into. And then I used it as part of my tallow base business and with the eat to lift products. And so when this all happened after we. It was a couple years of Shriners and burns and cancer. And when the kids got a all clear, I took a sabbatical because I had been. I had to go back to work because my husband didn't have work and he couldn't get a job too far away from home because we had to wrap these birds every 12 hours. And when you have to wrap fingers individually and two children and it's a traumatizing experience every single time. It was plus a new baby. It was talking and eye to eye contact to distract and one person wrapping and unwrapping and cleaning. And it was just. It was. It was a season.

13:09
Amberly Lago

Oh, So, I mean, I can. My heart goes out to you because when I was in the hospital, they had to change my bandages every three hours. And I did not sleep. I would look at the clock and just. I would know. I would just count down the minutes to. Those nurses would have to come in and, like, rip those bandages off and reapply them and the pain. And I remember even when I got out of the hospital three and a half months later, having a nurse come over one day and. And she was changing my bandages, and I just had tears running down my face. And she was like, have you taken your pain meds? And I said, no, I don't want

13:53
Jessica Hoogendoorn

to take pain meds.

13:54
Amberly Lago

And she goes, it's going to help you heal. Now, I wish I would have known you back then, because I think it would have been a lot less painful for me. But I can only imagine wrapping little individual fingers and your child and the strength and resilience that they must have and the grit from this whole experience that they have gone through. But have your products helped with the scarring?

14:23
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yeah, so. Yeah. Well, this is interesting. You know, you say you're. I said it before. Your place of pain, your place of rain. So what happened was. Yeah, I had a. I had a business where I made tinctures and salves. And when, over the course of time, I sold that business, and I had used some of those same herbs, and I sold it. We moved back to Michigan, and I was busy with another business. And about a year or so ago, I started thinking, you know, I feel it's time to. To go back to creation, to go back to creating products. And I'm like, how can I do that in a way that I can use what I've learned to, you know, to take and create something that I've not created before. And so I had a dream. It was crazy. I was like, God, can you just give me a. Like, I want to know. This is from you. I don't want to create an ishmael. Oh, sorry. My lighting went kind of crazy. I don't want to create an ishmael. I want it to be right. So I had a dream, and I woke up from a dream, and I had this list of ingredients running through my head. And I'm like, okay, this is kind of crazy, but everything in here is a combination of Momentari story. And so I was like, okay, this is. This is interesting. What. What. What's here? So I was thinking, you know, I could take what I had learned. I could combine it with a Tallow base. Because I, I've been, I knew the power of healing of tallow. And what if this could be something that would, could impact lives in a way that I thought it could? At the same time, I started having a lot of messages from mom saying, jessica, what are you using? What can we use for our kids for sunscreen? There's nothing out there that is safe. That is, you know, because I, I have a very large audience of moms that are more aware of this. And so I, I took these ingredients and I thought, you know what, I could put this into a base of sunscreen, and this would not only be sun safe, because sunscreen is so carcinogenic. This could actually help to have multiple uses. When you put it on, you can go out to the sun. This, these anti cancer ingredients could be soaking into your skin. And what if I added a few more and made it cell regenerating? So as your pores are open, you're taking in vitamin D instead of blocking it like conventional sunscreen, but you're also putting in the regenerating properties that I use for my mom and daughter. And from there it went into the tallow bombs. And so all the tallow bombs you have, have raw honey, have. Yours has lavender. Lavender is so healing. Lavender is something I actually use as part of Tori's healing burn treatment. Tallow, beeswax, Habhava oil, and all these oils that were part and parcel of either one of their healing treatments. And so that is kind of where it took off. And we've kind of, We've, we've gone from there. So the sunscreen is edible. We did a photo shoot. My niece ate half a bottle. But that's the plant. I'm like, you just ate a lot of money.

17:27
Amberly Lago

Well, yes, but you know what? I believe they're edible because do you remember I messaged you and said, well, I really like the products, especially the lip balm. Unfortunately, my dog found the lip balm and. Yes, my dog. And you're like, well, yeah, dogs tend to really like these products.

17:50
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Everybody with dogs messages me and tells me that my dogs can't stop licking my legs or eat wherever I'm putting my towel.

17:57
Amberly Lago

Yeah. And I was glad to hear you say, oh, no, it's completely safe. It's. It's fine.

18:01
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yep.

18:03
Amberly Lago

Well, I, I have to tell you, I'm just dying to tell you, I've been wanting to tell you about this. So you sent me the products, and I actually had a medical procedure done, and I had a really, really bad reaction. From it. And I do not know what they pumped me with, what fluids, what were in the iv, but I have no idea. But my skin was literally like peeling off of my face. It was, it was the weirdest thing. Like my whole skin was just red and cracking and raw. It looked almost like it was like a burn or something. I don't know if it was just like an allergic reaction or what it was, but I slathered your Taliban on my face and I am not kidding. I should have taken pictures.

19:01
Jessica Hoogendoorn

I wish you would have.

19:02
Amberly Lago

It was like, oh my gosh, what is in this stuff? This works. Because I had some very, very expensive products that are made in Japan that I was using. It wasn't doing anything. Then I was like, well, why don't I just try this? Because it says calming deeply hydrates and smooths. I was like, well, let me try that. And it worked within days. I mean, it was a miracle. And then also you had told me and you were so sweet and so like generous with your time and explaining how to use the deep relief, which for me, because I have so much pain, I was like, give me some deep relief, I will take it.

19:53
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Right.

19:53
Amberly Lago

So I've put it on my leg. That was, you know, I was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome. But lately I think because I compensate so much, my back and my hip has just been killing me. So I've been using it on my back and hip and it has helped so much. And so I had to tell you that. Thank you. Because I am, I'm a customer for life now.

20:16
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Oh, thank you.

20:17
Amberly Lago

And, and I'm going to hide the lip balm from Nugget next time. Nugget is not getting. So I wanted to ask you with the sunscreen. So what, what SPF is that? What?

20:31
Jessica Hoogendoorn

So, so there's two different SPFs. So there, there it's SPF 20 and SPF 50. But the, the base of it is all the same with the, the pomegranate, the tallow, the raw honey, the carrot seed, the castor oil. But what, where I put in, in this one specifically is the frankincense and myrrh oils, essential oils. So when you're soaking that in, you have all the benefits of A D, E and K. With a tallow, you have all the other healing anti inflammatory oils, cell regenerate. And then you also have frankincense and myrrh, which is in the, the Eden's Glow tallow as well. You had asked me about scarring. I didn't have that for My daughter at the time, I had the ingredients that I was using in the. In the burn bomb. But what's really interesting is I have a friend of mine who had breast implants taken out and she started using the Eden's Glow towel. You have the lavender. The Eden's Glow is a frankincense and merline and she started using it for her scarring and it healed her scars so beautifully. She's in a group with women that do the breast explants and their surgery and so she started sharing with their group. And it has taken off for a specific reason of healing scar tissue. And that combination was just what I learned from Tori. I use it to put on the lymph area of my chest every evening because I want those ingredients soaking in. But these women now are using it specifically for scar tissue.

22:04
Amberly Lago

I don't have that. That one is called what?

22:07
Jessica Hoogendoorn

That's Eden's Glow and that's the one that most women use as their anti aging nighttime one. So the lavender, the mint, the lemongra, those are the ones that are the morning ones. Any of the other ones, they're not quite as heavy. What makes the Eden's Glow different? The one that the women are using for scarring and it's a face and it's a full body one, but it has castor and carrot seed oil in addition to the ingredients that are in the other Taliban.

22:32
Amberly Lago

Okay, what does the frankincense do? What is that?

22:35
Jessica Hoogendoorn

What? Frankincense is an essential oil that people have used for centuries. It's why they brought frankincense and myrrh to Jesus. It's some of the most powerful healing. How do you say it technically? Anti disease, fighting cancer, fighting essential oils. It's in one of the. It's one of the most healing, powerful essential oils. And that blend and those two together is what you use when you're. If you're in the natural world. For so many healing issues, I put it in specifically thinking of my mom for the sun damage, for skin cancer, for more, more deeply, deeply healing. And so that is in the sunscreen, it's in the sun kissed lip balm, it's in the night. I call it more your night cream because if you want to put makeup on, it's a little heavier, takes a little longer to soak in. But I put it from my forehead across my chest because it's so I want that whole lymph area to be soaking in castor oil, frankincense and all those cell regenerating and very Ingredients that go to fight for you because your skin's a conduit.

23:42
Amberly Lago

It. It sure is. It's unbelievable. I didn't even think about so much how your skin absorbs everything. And 29 seconds. It is unbelievable. Until after my motorcycle accident, I had. I mean, my whole body was, like, shut down. My thyroid, my. I stopped having a period. Sorry if that's too much information listening. But they. The doctor was like, you have, like, zero levels of testosterone, progesterone, all that. So they gave me a cream to put on my arm.

24:20
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Exactly.

24:21
Amberly Lago

And it was. It was crazy. I stopped that. It got to be. It was way. It was way too much. But was the first time I really thought about how your skin absorbs and everything and how important it is to be conscious of what we're putting on our skin.

24:39
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yes.

24:39
Amberly Lago

And so I have a friend who is going through breast cancer right now, and I am going to get some of this. I want to get some for me too. The one for scars in the night cream one, I definitely want to get that.

24:54
Jessica Hoogendoorn

It's the same one, you know, nighttime one. And when you have a fresh scar or something like that, and you want to prevent that, that is a beautiful thing to put on it because of how healing it is and how it just helps your cells to regenerate.

25:09
Amberly Lago

Now, you said this was a business before that you sold. How did you even get into learning about. I'm fascinated with all the different oils. In fact, I have Krista, who's in my mastermind, and she's a healer, and she has come over and done a treatment on me, and she uses all these different oils, and she explains what. Which one. Everything is. What it does, what it symbolizes, and I'm just fascinated with it. And of course, I think it just feels good and I feel better afterwards, but I don't remember what anything is for. How did you get into learning about all these oils?

25:47
Jessica Hoogendoorn

So I'm a naturopath doctor, a master herbalist, a couple other degrees in that field. And it was what I did. It was. It was who I was, which is why treating our daughter holistically was. Was who I. You know, why I did that. And so I had a business as a master herbalist and naturopath where I made tinctures, made healing remedies for years. But we were living in Kentucky at the time, and when we went to move back to Michigan, I was just. I really felt it's a time to shut that door for a season, to give myself a little bit of a Chance to. To rejuvenate. Because we had started another business. I was successful. My husband was able to come home, and we moved back to Michigan. But it's my passion. I've done this. I've been a naturopath and been in the health industry for over 20 years. And so I wanted to get back to creating because I literally just kept getting these formulas dropped down into me, and I'm like, this is. This is. Will fit. Will help this area of my clientele. This will help this area of my clientele. And right when I met you this last time, Amberly, the latest was, is I started having all these perimenopause and menopause women that were coming to me with these issues of when you hit the. When you hit that certain age of vaginal dryness, micro tears, spotting after intimacy, and just that pain that women have when they get to that phase of life when their hormones are out of balance. And so that was another scenario where I have learned that when God drops things or brings people with the same message over and over again, to me, it's for a reason. And that's when I started creating the. The intimacy lube. And that's when Eat to Live. Like, Eat to Live launched last year. But that's kind of how it's. It's been going from the sunscreen to the Taliban to the intimacy to help heal that area. Not just heal, because most women use coconut oil, and that's disrupting your microbiome because it's antibacterial. I. I love coconut oil, just not there. And so that's kind of how how Eat To List started was just with people coming to me, my clients, and so creating something for them.

27:53
Amberly Lago

Wow, you are amazing. Like, honestly, I. I've had a doctor talk to me about coconut oil, and to think that, yeah, it is antibacterial, and that makes sense how it would disrupt things. And the last time. Yeah, the last time I talked to you, you were just starting to talk about this. This lube, and everybody was like, lube? What do you mean? Tell us more about that.

28:23
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yeah.

28:23
Amberly Lago

So is that. That's out? That's ready to go?

28:26
Jessica Hoogendoorn

That's out. Yes. Yes. You know what would back to your skin comment. If you look at your skin, there's pain patches, there's all these different things. Hormone creams. Because our skin is a conduit. And what is on our. We put on our skin is in our blood in 29 seconds on average. So if you're putting on lotions that have toxins you're putting on makeup. You're putting on things that you. That. That are not clean enough to eat. It's in your blood, and it's working against you. It's more important what we put on our. What we put on our skin than what we put in our mouth. And so because our mouth, we have our gut and our liver detoxes. And so when you're using lube, it should be edible and petroleum jelly, and those things are not. But it's also a very delicate balance of bacteria. And so if we're using coconut oil, which I love for everything else, just not there, it disrupts the vaginal microbiome. And that's when women can actually have compounded issues because of burning candida, all these different things because of the imbalance in microbiome.

29:28
Amberly Lago

Wow, that is fascinating. I never thought of you should put things that you can actually eat on your skin.

29:38
Jessica Hoogendoorn

If you.

29:38
Amberly Lago

If you think about all the makeup, have you thought about. Do you have a makeup line?

29:43
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Not yet, no. But women absorb about 5 pounds of toxins with their makeup a year, and on average, I think that's a statistic. And so our makeup should be edible.

29:57
Amberly Lago

Wow. So I'm just putting it out there. Maybe you'll start having some dreams about some makeup next.

30:04
Jessica Hoogendoorn

You know, who knows?

30:06
Amberly Lago

But you know what? I think it's powerful. Dreams are powerful. Whenever I have a big decision to make and I'm like, I'm not sure. I will pray about it before I go to bed, and I sometimes will wake up in the middle of the night with. It's like, here's the answer. I think it's so powerful. So you're saying some of these ingredients have come to you through a dream?

30:32
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yeah. That's how Eat to Live started. Was. Was I. I had been having the prompts to start creating again. I didn't know what. And, you know, Amberly, with. With us as. As entrepreneurs, we already have so many plates juggling. And I didn't want to create something where I was. Where it was just. It was going to make my life worse. I wanted to create something that was powerful and that was. That was created because I was supposed to. It was part of my purpose. I. And so I held. I knew that I was wanted to do something with tallow because tallow is so healing. It's one of the closest oils to our skin. So it's hydrating, it's healing. It's vitamins A, D, E, and K that we're putting into our body. And so I knew that. I just didn't know exactly what. And so that's when the sunscreen started. And then of course, as women, you want to age backwards. You want to, you want to look beautiful, you want your skin to be fed good. And so that's kind of where the tallow started. But not just a typical tallow bomb. There's so many out there. I wanted ours to be highly luxurious but very powerfully healing. And so that's what each one of them are. The decongestant that I make is an immune booster and healing. And so it's part of me experiencing cancer, experiencing, helping thousands of patients. So what I make, I want it to be the best that I know how to make of its kind, to be luxurious. The lube oils are some oils from Africa or Morocco and Japan, and some of the oils women have used for centuries because that's what is healing. But also it's very luxurious. And so, yes, it's part of a dream. And then it just grows as it goes.

32:12
Amberly Lago

Well, I didn't even know what tallow was. Can you tell everybody what, where does tallow even come from? Because I had to research that and I was like, oh, that's what I'm putting on my skin.

32:23
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yes. So tallow is from beef. From beef. It's beef tallow. It's the fat of the beef. And it's very important.

32:31
Amberly Lago

And I'm putting it on as we're talking, by the way.

32:33
Jessica Hoogendoorn

There you go. You know what? It's so amazing for our skin that I tell women, take before and after pictures because your skin will start to literally glow and it plumps up. So tallow is from beef. I use grass fed because I don't want anything with grains or genetically modified or hormones or anything like fat. And so we have grass fed tallow, Grass fed, grass finished. And when you put tallow on your skin, what makes it different than a lot of different fats is that it'll moisturize down to the deepest level. So what starts to happen then is your skin plumps up and looks dewy. Moisturized, it helps your body to produce collagen. It's very, very, very anti aging. And so because of that, your skin will start to feel smooth. It'll look smooth. It'll kind of pump out in the best way because it's moisturized. So it's like your, your skin always has a deep drink of water. And then to that we add other ingredients like raw honey, which draws in moisture and traps moisture in the skin. That's why I have it on my lip balm, my tallows. But raw honey was part of Tori's burn treatment, one of the biggest parts of her healing.

33:46
Amberly Lago

Wow. So I have to ask, have you gotten a lot of pushback from the vegans out there?

33:53
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Actually no, not yet. Because the reason being is I think that the people are waking up to the power of tallow. Like it's literally, it's literally becoming a catchphrase because people are realizing how very healing it is. And if vegans don't want to use it, that's totally okay. There is, there is such a need for quality purity products. That's what everything we make, down to my muscle bomb, you can eat it and the only thing that would happen is you would benefit. And that's where the there the world is realizing. Moms are realizing the power of what we put on our skin and the importance of not just grabbing a lotion, grabbing a sunscreen or all the different serums that women put on their skin. If you put them even in through chat GPT, you're putting on microplastics, hormone disruptors. I mean I could go on and on and we don't realize it. And so the more educated people are becoming, the more a need for this is arising. And I wanted to create a place that moms, if their daughter has cancer, if their child, if they're, if they're someone who was very much of a stickler for purity like I was, they don't even have to question what they're buying. They know that. They know that they're not only going to get something of quality, but the purity is there. And that's, that's my mission because I wanted something like this. When we were going through cancer and I was reading ingredients of everything that I put on Tori and us, that was a huge awareness. There's very few companies out there.

35:28
Amberly Lago

Well, speaking of your mission, what is your mission beyond, you know, selling skin care? Like do you see eat to live contributing to people's health, the environment or society?

35:43
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Absolutely. So all of our, well for starters, all of our sunscreen are marine and reef safe. So the only thing that'll happen is you might be tastier when you're in the water. So there is nothing toxic there. Because that's a huge part of, of my mission when making sunscreen is I want it to be, it can go into any waterways and it's only food based. It's as toxic as a salad. And so for the products, I don't want to get Very nerdy. But for the products that we're creating, it's a mission for them to be extremely therapeutic. So I'll just give you an example very quickly. The sinus decongestant will open up any sinuses, it doesn't matter, allergies, asthma, you know, anything. Sinus headaches and that. But at the same time it's an immune booster that you can use for children. And so I want to create things that you can take into a home that are affordable and can be used multi diverse to be that place for moms to shop safely. But also my mission and my long term goal is to, to create a business where women that need a place to work, women that need a place to be, to belong, to empower women. That's our end, that's our end goal is to grow that into that type of business. And I know that there is, it's coming soon because of the directions that we're going. So a hundred percent, that's my dream.

37:12
Amberly Lago

I love that. And you know what? I feel like everyone, I just feel like lately all the. I feel like when we are in alignment with our God given purpose, like the right people come along, the right doors open and I just see how much you've grown and all the connections that you have made. Because everyone that meets you and tries your products loves them. I mean my friend Katherine Gordon, who is very particular by the way with products and everything, she was like we were at, you know, when we first met you, we were like, oh, what is this? Putting it on and trying it out, you know, and seeing. So I noticed you have a way for people to be an affiliate.

38:00
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yes.

38:01
Amberly Lago

Or do you have a lot of people that are affiliates for the product?

38:06
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yes. That's absolutely growing. We do have an affiliate program. If you are someone that loves this type of thing, Love Security has a lot of friends that are the same way that are, you know, ingredients checkers and. Or if another, another area. If you are someone that is in the age that I'm in, perimenopause, menopause and you have a group of women that. Exactly. That are in that stage where you are wanting something for support for making intimacy great again, it's kind of my hashtag. We do have an affiliate program that you can sign up and then when you share with your friends, your family, your community, there is a benefit to you. And so absolutely at the bottom of our Eat to Live page is an affiliate link that you can sign up and benefit as you share.

38:58
Amberly Lago

Okay. And we will have the Link. Go ahead and give us the link for your website so people can check that out.

39:04
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Absolutely. It's www.eat2 the number two live life.

39:11
Amberly Lago

That's all. And I, I need to talk to you about being an affiliate. But before that I, I wondered because I have a lot of people that listen to the show that are like me, that they live with a lot of chronic pain. They. A lot of people that listen to the show also have complex regional pain syndrome. What would you do for some. I want you to start dreaming about this. Okay, Jessica?

39:40
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Sure. I, I will start Dre.

39:43
Amberly Lago

Dreaming about ingredients to help with excruciating nerve pain.

39:49
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Okay.

39:49
Amberly Lago

Okay.

39:50
Jessica Hoogendoorn

So. Yes. And I, I will, I'm going to message you about something that I have used for people that have that for sure. And, and I will tell you one way I know this is not like the total answer because it's so much. It's, it's so it's different than what you're doing. But ways to maximize a deep relief pain or deep relief muscle rub is that if you put that on and look at it as a medicine. So comfrey in there is helped to regrow the tissue. That is a huge one. The msm, the thymol are very powerful anti inflammatories, as are the other ingredients. If you look at it not just like a relief, but an actual healing elements. That is how I made it. So I wanted it to be for helping relief, but also to be very healing. So I have people putting it on. I mean I literally have doctors and nurses messaging me saying this is better than what we have in the hospital for pain relief as far as topical pain stuff. But if you, if you sweat first or put it on before you go into a sauna, put it on after you come out, or if you're gonna go work out, put it on before the vasodilation. Sweating or opening your pores is going to maximize your pain relief.

41:02
Amberly Lago

Okay.

41:02
Jessica Hoogendoorn

So it's not putting it on just normally is going to help, but any heat is going to maximize.

41:09
Amberly Lago

Okay. I had a question for you. So I know like there are some people that with complex regional pain syndrome that might get flared up even more just from the feeling of that, that, that kind of heat. You know, I guess maybe it's from the peppermint or the wintergreen that's in it's heat cold.

41:28
Jessica Hoogendoorn

It's both.

41:29
Amberly Lago

Yeah, it's like a heat cold kind of like, I guess I'm old school. Like the only thing I had ever used before and this is probably terrible, but Ben gay. That Ben gay.

41:39
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yeah.

41:40
Amberly Lago

And. And I kind of liked that because it would actually distract me.

41:45
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yeah.

41:45
Amberly Lago

It would almost like distract me from the pain with muscle pain. But people that have complex regional pain syndrome and their limbs and let's say they're putting it on their leg, do you think it's going to affect them and make them flare up more with that heat, cold kind of feeling? Or is there something that we could. I say we. That we could come up with?

42:08
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yeah. Hey, I will look into it. Let me know. Because I. Let me know. Amberly. I have. I have had such a vast variety of people using it, and I have not had feedback like that yet. So if you could let me know. One ingredient in there is capsicum oleoresin, and it is a heat. But what it does, it's a carrier. So it opens the pores and it'll carry any other ingredient deeper into the body. And so that is the first ingredient in it. And that will carry MSM and thymol and comfrey and arnica and calendula. Calendula is more of a calmer for inflammation. And so I don't know if you tell me how that is and then I will start thinking. But I would love your feedback on that. Utilizing it for after heat, like putting it on normally and then putting it on and letting you know if you know how he. What heat does to it, because it's very cooling at the same time that it's heating. But it's different than BenGay in the sense that the herbs that are used in there, the ingredients that are used, and they reduce inflammation on the site. And so.

43:13
Amberly Lago

And I'm putting it on like, I'm sorry if I look like I'm doing something. I am. I'm actually putting it on while we're talking because I've really used it mainly for my back and my hip more so than I have even the. My leg. But I'm putting it on my leg now, so I will let you know. And I just love the idea that I know that I'm putting quality, good ingredients that are being absorbed. I've just gotten to be so sensitive with so many things, and I don't know if it's because I've had so many surgeries or what. So I love knowing that I'm putting something with good quality quality on.

43:55
Jessica Hoogendoorn

What.

43:55
Amberly Lago

What does MSM do?

43:57
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Well, it's a very. It's very much of. Of a healing agent. And so if you look up a lot of people you'll have msm, glucosamine, all those different ingredients. And when it comes to joints and tissue, so it's an anti inflammatory healing helper for joints and tissue. And then thymol. It's a curious story on this. I was dreaming about this formula and I went to a lady, a practitioner who works on athletes practice, pro athletes and et cetera, and she said, I was at the Kentucky Derby one time and I got this ointment that they use when the horses are done the Kentucky Derby for inflammation. They would rub it down their legs, down with it. And one of the primary ingredients in it is thymol because it's a powerful anti inflammatory. So I started researching thymol and I'm like, okay, well, when we have pain and inflammation, when we have people with joints or breaks or sprains or, or situations like yourselves. I had a person who's, who had bone spurs, they were walking on, they had an accident and the repair was terrible. And so he's lived with chronic pain for years. We're on the cruise ship and he put it on his foot and he said, this is the first time I've slept without pain in years because of how they damaged my injury when they were trying to help put it back together. So thymol is a very powerful anti inflammatory. So when you say how is the body going to react with, with a chronic regional, what you're. Which pain disorder? I don't know because it's different. But everything in it is very anti inflammatory. So let me know if you, if you work out and sweat and then put it on or if you go in the sauna after.

45:27
Amberly Lago

Okay.

45:28
Jessica Hoogendoorn

By itself, it's usually not that hot.

45:32
Amberly Lago

I've done it just by itself and it wasn't that hot. But I will put it on before I go to the gym. Next time I go to the gym. I mean, I've already been to the gym twice today actually.

45:46
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Go.

45:46
Amberly Lago

Well, because I was like, well, I only had 30 minutes earlier and then I had another 30 minutes and I was like, I got to go back and do my cardio. So next time I go to do my cardio, I'll make sure I put this on before. But I love, you know, I really shower.

46:03
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yeah, put it on because you're all nice and open.

46:07
Amberly Lago

Okay, I'll do that. And then, you know, I, I am fascinated and I used to talk to some of my daughters, a horse, a horseback rider, and she actually wants to go to school to be an equine vet. And I, I was Always fascinated. Every time the vet was there to work on some of the horses at the barn because what they used for horses and these horses are like, some of them are million dollar horses, believe it or not. I'm like, why are we not using this for people? So one day I was at the barn and my daughter actually, she did a, she did a TikTok video on this. And I can't even remember what it is, but it's this white. It's probably some of the same ingredients that are in this pain relief balm or deep relief balm. And they pack the horse's legs and then you wrap their legs. And I was like, it was a hot day. I was like, you know what, let me try that. Because my daughter was like, well, it's really good for inflammation. I said, well, let me put it on my leg. So I was right beside the horse putting it on my leg and doing the same thing. So I think what's good for one of these million dollar horses has to be good for me. Let me try it, you know?

47:22
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yes, yes. It comes from thyme. And so it's, it's, it's all natural. At least this. What's in here. But that was my whole idea. Like, if it can work for Kentucky Derby to bring down inflammation, why wouldn't we use it when we have pain, inflammation, sore muscles, stiff necks, headaches, bursitis, anything ending at itis? Why not?

47:42
Amberly Lago

Yeah. Well, okay, so, I mean, I could literally ask you an hour of questions just about the business side of this, but I'm just selfishly was very curious about like what the ingredients are, how they work, why, I mean, seriously was like, I, it was like a miracle when my face was red and cracking and like, what the heck is going on? And I put it on and, and I have to admit that I was actually, I was a little afraid that I was. It was going to break my face out just because I thought this feels kind of thick, I don't know. But I was like, well, it's better than what it looks. I don't care if it breaks out because it was like red and cracking and it did not break my face out at all. And then I saw on your site that it actually helps with acne.

48:37
Jessica Hoogendoorn

It does, yes. That is what people ask me a lot, is that will this make clog my pores? Will it make acne worse? And it is one of the best things you can give for teenagers. It helps to heal acne. It's vitamins A, D, E and K, which Are powerful. And then I've, I've said some of the other ones, but raw honey is antiviral, antibacterial, all the anti things that we want working for us and so very healing and cell regenerating. And so no, it is wonderful. I have so much, so many teenagers using it. My teenagers use it, but it will not, it will not break out. And so. And the beautiful thing is a little bit goes a long way. So when, when I've been asked that a lot and I have under the, each, each ingredient, I have it explained how it does not help, how it does not clog your pores or affect acne. So. No, that is a myth with, with tallow. It is.

49:28
Amberly Lago

Yeah. Well, it didn't. It didn't. My face did not break out at all. And this is kind of interesting. So, you know, as we're talking, I've been putting the tallow on me. Then I put. I was putting it on my leg, the deep relief balm. And interesting enough, my. My leg doesn't feel that icy hot kind of feeling, but I put it on my back and my back does right away. Does that mean I have more inflammation in my back or why is it.

49:59
Jessica Hoogendoorn

No, why am I feeling it more? Feeling it more? Because you probably have scar tissue that takes a little bit to through on your leg. I'm guessing.

50:06
Amberly Lago

I do. I have a lot of scar tissue and there are places on my leg that are overly sensitive and places that are completely numb.

50:16
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Okay, so. So this is where, this is where I. Where the capsicum in it and why. I would say to treat it like a, A medicine in the sense that. Okay, I want to put this on every day for the healing aspect to let that soak in. So the capsicum is 6 million skull unit units. It's hot. But the menthol, the peppermint, all that actually help to take away the heat. And the calendula keeps it from any inflammation. So it's very calming and soothing. So what happens is. And the reason I use capsicum is when you have scar tissue, when you have damage, when you have something like arthritis or any type of itis, inflammation or even just really a headache.

50:58
Amberly Lago

And you did you did you see?

51:01
Jessica Hoogendoorn

I put it on my. Oh, sorry. Hold on a second. My light went out. That's okay.

51:06
Amberly Lago

I can still hear you.

51:07
Jessica Hoogendoorn

We can still hear me. Okay. Yeah.

51:09
Amberly Lago

Do you know I put. Did you see. I don't know if you saw me rubbing it on my temples.

51:14
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yes. And then put it behind right here.

51:17
Amberly Lago

Yeah, I was, I Was actually rubbing it on my temples because, you know, staring at a computer all day with bright lights on you. And so I was actually putting it on my temples and it feels good.

51:31
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Absolutely. I am sending you something in the mail to tomorrow. So when you. When it is my decongest. Can you turn that down, honey, a little bit? Thank you. Sorry. When you, when you have the decongestant and you're talking about just having that staring at the screen and all that, the this, the deeper leap is so amazing for headaches and stiff shoulders. But if you want to, I'm going to send you the decongestant. You rub it on your hands, smell it, it'll wake you up instantly. But it opens up all your sinus area and you up to your head and you just kind of get this, ooh, amazing feeling. So that's the mail for you tomorrow. Yes.

52:07
Amberly Lago

Well, wait, wait, wait now, Jessica, I need the lube.

52:14
Jessica Hoogendoorn

I will send you the lube. Okay. Can I just be honest with your audience?

52:19
Amberly Lago

Yeah. Do you think, hey, we keep it real here. We keep it real. That's why I said that. I don't know if my hubby listens to this, but, honey, you're about to be in for a surprise.

52:32
Jessica Hoogendoorn

So I have women. I was getting on a plane about two weeks ago and I got a call and I was like lugging my luggage down the aisle and listening to the call. And this, this lady was in tears. She had. I forget. Something happened when she was younger and for 19 years she's been unable to have intimacy without terrible pain. Like literally taking painkillers before. And she said within a week of using this because of how healing it is to the vaginal tissue. And she said for the first time in 19 years from before we got married, this happened before she got married. I was able to make love without pain.

53:07
Amberly Lago

Oh, my.

53:08
Jessica Hoogendoorn

I have women. Exactly. I have women wanting to order this in bulk just literally because of how healing it is. But in between intimacy, just self application is bringing miracles to women. And if men couldn't make love, it would be a problem. And yet women can struggle and can have pain or to have bleeding after or just kind of grit your teeth because of all the issues that happen when our hormones shift. Why shouldn't we have something that is non toxic? Petroleum jelly is literally petroleum. Why would we be putting that in? That is, that is, that is not healthy for us. Coconut oil is amazing. I love it. And use it every day, but not for that. There's nothing out there. And so if we're going to be doing this. Why not? Why not have something that's healing, luxurious and also solves the problem? And P.S.

54:08
Amberly Lago

yeah, well, I'm. I'm kind. That's scary.

54:11
Jessica Hoogendoorn

All the.

54:12
Amberly Lago

I've heard just horror stories about that. And I mean, thank goodness. Like, I've just heard such horror stories about menopause and all that. And I just went to go get blood work done to see kind of where I am, and I'm doing fine. I'm sure I'm going to be hitting it soon. That. But I have to tell you, okay, we're getting real. We're keeping it really, really real.

54:36
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Right.

54:38
Amberly Lago

My doctor was like, oh, you still have a period. I'm like, yeah, I know I'm old. Thank you very much. He goes, wow, that's like a miracle. Thanks, doctor.

54:51
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Thank God for miracles.

54:53
Amberly Lago

Yeah, thanks, Doc. But, yeah, can you believe that just happened last week, actually. But I think it's great that you have come up with a product and we can talk about these sort of things because it's not something that a lot of people talk about. They don't want to talk about that there's pain or discomfort or that their hormones are shifting or that they don't enjoy it, you know. So thank you for talking about it and for keeping it real here.

55:21
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Well, I'll take it one step realer. It's edible.

55:26
Amberly Lago

Well, there you go, ladies and gentlemen.

55:29
Jessica Hoogendoorn

There you go. Yep. In fact, you know, to get it right, something I learned when making this was some oils are dry oils where they dry out out too fast. Some oils are more like longer lasting. I have so many pre lube formulas and recipes. And so that's my after shower oil. It's sometimes on my face. It's beautiful because that's how it should be. The what we're putting anywhere should be that pure. So. Yes.

55:57
Amberly Lago

Oh, that is amazing. Well, I can't wait to get my gift in the mail. I just. And you know what? Like, I think you know, you listening. You know that I'm not one that just gets on here and talks about products. I don't, I don't even have sponsors for my show. I don't share anything unless I've tried it. And I love it. And so I really love all that you're doing. So thank you. Tell us again where people can find you and order your products. And I'll have that in the show notes for you. If you're out for a run or you're driving, don't worry. You can look in the show notes and find it.

56:36
Jessica Hoogendoorn

Yes. So it's www.eat2 the number two live life. And for all first time customers, it's a 10% off. So when you get there, it should pop up where you get a 10% off code. If not DM US and we'll give it to you, but that is for all your audience.

56:54
Amberly Lago

Well, thank you so much and thank you for being here. And you know what? If you found value in this or you know somebody that needs some lube, take a screenshot, share it on your instagram @amberly Lagomotivation and Jessicah. I had to make sure I had to practice her last name because I'm, you know, Jessica.

57:16
Jessica Hoogendoorn

It's either way to get telemarketers. You know how they are, because they butcher your last name.

57:21
Amberly Lago

Yes. Well, Jessica, I hope I get to see you in person again really soon. Thank you so much for being on and thank you for just the gifts that you've given to the world and to so many. There's one last question that I did want to ask you is can people find this, like in Whole Foods or anything like that? Or can they. They order directly through you?
