I’m practicing what I preach today and getting on the mic for a solocast about how I have been managing anxiety and fear lately. Even though you have made this a Top 1% podcast Globally (THANK YOU!!!) and you send me the most wonderful messages about how the show has impacted you, I still get a little nervous about doing solocasts. In fact, I have lots of butterflies in my stomach about soooo many things lately, ESPECIALLY about something that might surprise you! I agreed to play in a celebrity softball tournament and I am not just overcoming my fear of being hit in the face with a ball, but also overcoming my anxiety about playing in front of the expected 15,000 people that will be at Globe Life Field–the home of The Texas Rangers!!

Until last week, I had never pitched a ball or been up to bat. Thanks to Coach Ruby (AKA my 14 year old daughter) I have been practicing every day and learned terms like “refuse to lose” and “keep your eye on the ball.” I am always up for a good challenge and I can promise you one thing…it will be definitely be entertaining and I will show you first hand how to walk through your fears if you come to see me play ball! So far we have lost three balls over fences and in a pond, I have been hit in the face with a ball, and had one bloody nose. But along the way there have been lots of deep belly laughs, tons of learning and so far I am getting a little better every day.

In this episode I share some of the best ways I’ve learned to manage anxiety, including stories of specific events that have pushed me to face my fears. You’ll also hear from the founder of The Celebrity Softball Classic, Tim “TK” Lund and the whole story behind it, including how you can buy tickets to come see it!

Here’s what you will learn:

  • How action steps can help you through anxiety (3:47)
  • The importance of hard work. The will to win is not nearly so important as the will to prepare to win (8:30)
  • How connection with others is essential to the journey. WE not me attitude. (13:23)
  • Don’t rely on motivation but instead on your healthy habits (21:09)
  • Opportunities may knock, but you must open the door(24:17)
  • It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get back up (25:00)
  • How movement moves your mood and the importance of the right supplements (27:10)
